Practice Ice

Curlers may book ice for practice from 7 days ahead. Up to 8 people may practice at the same time and the cost is a per person fee regardless of the number of people on the ice.

The majority of practice ice tends to be booked for just one person, therefore we have made the decision that we will sell it in 30 minute blocks to allow as many curlers as possible access to the limited resources. Sessions longer than 30 minutes will be possible but will be subject to our fair use policy, which is laid out below.

Since practice is is cheap and booked at short notice, there will no refunds if you cannot use it, and it cannot be rescheduled, so we ask that you only book once you are sure that you will be able to use it.

Practice Pass

Curlers can buy a practice pass that will give them free practice for the current season. There are adult and junior (under 21) passes, and the prices can be seen in our price list. 

There are some restrictions around the use of ice when it is paid for with a practice pass and these are:

• Practice passes are for personal practice only, they may not be used to play games of any type.
• Repeated no shows or cancellations are not allowed apart from in exceptional circumstances. 

Practice passes may be withdraw if they are misused. Repeat offenders will be warned and may have their passes cancelled after 3 occurrences. This is to allow as many people as possible access to practice ice.

Passes are bought online and will be held in your account and automatically applied when you book practice ice.  You must buy the pass before booking a practice session as the cost of practice will not be refunded retrospectively.

Fair Use Policy

Practice ice is in high demand, particularly at the start of the season, so the following restrictions are in place. These apply to everyone attending practice and not just the person making the booking.

• Curlers may only book one half hour session per day if they will be practicing alone.
• If 2 or more people will be practicing together, then up to 1 hour per day may be booked

These restrictions are not enforced by the booking system, however we expect our curlers to respect them, and the icemen will keep an eye on practice to ensure fair use of the ice.

To purchase or use a practice pass you need to login to your account and book from there. All bookings made here will be charged for.

Online Booking

Bookings for practice ice can can be made very easily through our website or from your account.

 If you are planning on buying a practice pass then you will need to create an account as these are sold and managed from within an account. If you have a practice pass then you need to book from your account for it to give you the discount.

If you will book practice regularly, but without a pass, then you will probably still be better to create an account as it will save your details so you do not have to put them in every time. If you are booking just once or infrequently you do not need to create an account but you will still need to give us your contact details.

Only accounts that have booked ice for this season before the start of September will have accounts in our new system. If you had an account previously but do not have any current bookings then you will need to create and account. Do this through the Login button at the top of the page.
